Needle Gun
This video clip from the 27th July 2010 shows a needle gun being used to remove defective coatings from around the rivet joints under the East Walkway.
The needle gun uses an electrical current to rotate needles at varying speeds against the metallic surface to slowly chip away the numerous layers of paint and rust.

Inside the cradles under Tower Bridge Walkway
We take our first look inside the cradles, which sit under the East Walkway of Tower Bridge.

Temporary access staircase
Contractors have erected a temporary access staircase on the South Tower, which will be used during the restoration of the Walkways. Two 40ft cradles will be applied to the underside of each walkway. Work on paint removal and repainting will commence on the East Walkway in approximately 10 days time.
